Karen Lee (Ellis) Dall

Aug 10, 1933 — Oct 27, 2021

Karen Lee Ellis Dall came into this world on August 10, 1933 the first of seven children born to Dexter and Louise Ball Ellis in Ogden, Utah. She departed this life on October 27, 2021 due to heart failure.

She was raised in Ogden and graduated from the famous "Million Dollar" Ogden High School. Karen learned shorthand and became a gifted secretary. She was working at Petty Motors when she met her future husband, Norm Dall and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple August 29, 1956. They welcomed the first of seven children one year later to their E. Millcreek home and later moved to Cottonwood.

In 1977 she responded to an ad for a temporary, part-time job at St. Mark's Hospital, to earn a little extra Christmas money, and retired 38 years later, at the age of 82. While there, she quickly became the executive secretary of the CFO but was snatched away by J.P. Hughes, MD, for whom she lovingly worked for 28 years.

Karen was kindness defined. She loved to have people around the home and made it difficult to leave by offering treats and drinks, along with her signature plea, "don't go, don't leave". Her kids' friends all considered her their second mom. Not only would she take them toilet papering, but she would enthusiastically participate as well.

Her testimony of The Savior, Jesus Christ and His gospel was evident more in what she did than what she said. Her Mutual girls meant the world to her and many kept in touch over the decades. The care she provided her Normie the last eight years of his life is certainly chronicled in heaven.

Though she gave her love and life to her kids, they all know that they were only training for her true calling as "Grammy" to 12 grandsons, 12 granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren and counting. She loved attending her grandchildren's countless ball games, recitals, plays and graduations.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son-in-law, Steve Spere. She's survived by her siblings, Kent, Barry, Craig, Kirk, Nicole, and Brett and her children Corby, Darren, Joel, Kimberlee, Noelle, Amy and Shannon as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
