Karen Lee Forslund

Our beloved matriarch, Karen Lee Forslund, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Karen was born on August 3, 1940, to George and Marjorie Bishop in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Gordon Wesley Forslund on July 15, 1957, and together they enjoyed 68 wonderful years of marriage, raising four children: Mark (Michelle), Jeffrey (Sandy), Jill (Randy), and Lisa (Dan).

Though Karen is no longer with us physically, her spirit and soul live on in our hearts. Her powerful love for her family is a legacy we will continue to honor and cherish through our close relationships.

Karen lit up every room she entered- always full of joy, compassion, humor, and positivity. She would whistle loudly when she was in a good mood, and her voice was as beautiful as a songbird’s when she sang.

Karen and Gordon instilled a love for travel in their children and grandchildren, and we spent many joyful years exploring new places together. Lake Powell remains a favorite destination, filled with everlasting memories we will always hold dear.

Her sense of humor was quick-witted and infectious, regularly making everyone around her laugh. She loved chasing trains with her husband and children, sparking a family-wide fascination with steam engines.

Karen was a rock for her family. She kept many of us grounded, treating in-laws as her own and welcoming them warmly into the family. She was our guiding light, our comfort, and our strength. She held tightly to family traditions and was the glue that kept us all close.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, George and Marjorie Bishop; her husband, Gordon Forslund; her brothers, Doug and Danny Bishop; her daughter-in-law, Sandy Forslund; her grandson, Jesse Forslund; and her son-in-law, Danuel Christie.

May we continue to live and love vibrantly in her honor.

Services will be held Friday, September 26, 6:00-8:00 PM, at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary, located at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
