Karen Lee Ferguson Trevino, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, died on September 16, 2008 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born January 7, 1941 in Winner, SD to Shirley Luverne Ferguson and Donna Zay Deahn. She attended Idaho State University, where after a two-year courtship she married Allen R. Trevino. They were later sealed in the LDS Temple in Oakland, CA, and this month, they celebrated 47 years of marriage. They moved to East Millcreek in 1965 and have remained there ever since. Karen particularly enjoyed the views of Mt. Olympus and the cooling breeze from Millcreek Canyon. She was a passionate genealogist, enthusiastically tracing her ancestors and sharing her research expertise with friends and family both near and far. She was an avid fan of all the Utah collegiate sports; University of Utah gymnastics was a particular favorite, and she often followed the team to national meets. She loved playing with her many grandchildren, travelling with family and friends, cross-stitching, knitting, reading, skiing, hiking and boating on Lake Powell. As a member of the LDS Church, Karen served in a variety of callings, including Relief Society President, Scout Leader, Teacher, and Family History Consultant. She was also a volunteer at the Sons of Utah Pioneers. She is survived by her husband; her eight children: Bob (Amy), SLC; James, SLC; Gary, SLC; Carmen, London, UK; Karalee Trevino (Sean Skamnes), SLC; Sarah (Dave) Pearce, Carlsbad, CA; Dave (Laura), Bountiful; and Scott, Northridge, CA; her brother, Bill (Joan) Ferguson, Winner, SD; her sister, Janice Falen, Tacoma, WA; her father, Vern Ferguson (Phyllis) St. George, UT; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Zay Ferguson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2008 at 12 noon at the LDS chapel at 3408 South Celeste Way (3120 East), where friends may visit with the family Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
