Karl David Tuke

Karl David Tuke of Salt Lake City, Utah, was 65 years old when our hearts were broken, and we had to say farewell to our beloved brother.

Dave, as his family called him, was born on June 5, 1959, to Edna May (Gerth) and Jack Leon Tuke in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dave attended Grandview Elementary and Roslyn Heights Elementary Schools, Evergreen Junior High, and graduated from Olympus High School in 1977, continuing on to receive an associate's degree from Salt Lake Community College. Dave was a kind, pure-hearted soul, a truly talented artist excelling in multiple mediums, including commercial art, which was one of his specialties. He created logos and t-shirts for various car clubs and muscle car enthusiasts, posters, etc., as well as many beautiful portraits. On occasion, when he thought no one was home, he could be heard banging out any number of tunes that he might have heard that day on the piano, all played by ear. He was a huge Elton John fan. He was a lover of dogs and had many canine companions over the years.

Equaled only by his mechanical mind and ability was his love for muscle cars and being a Dodge man through and through. He owned just about every car he loved at one time or another. He could fix anything and was meticulous in everything he did, including one of the greenest lawns on the block. He obtained a black belt in Wado Karate-Do. Thankfully, he never had to use those skills on his younger siblings or anyone else we know of, but it gave us all a sense of security when he was close by, and sometimes feared if we were being annoying. He shared our fathers of Chuck Norris, John Wayne, and Sylvester Stallone, and loved action, martial arts, and Western movies in general, and loved reading books of the same.

He had many jobs throughout his life. As a teen, he spent a summer picking pineapples in Hawaii with a church group. He also worked for Coca-Cola, Number One Performance, Streator Chevrolet, Norge Cleaning Village, LDS Church Maintenance, Freeway Transmissions, and Fluid X. He was a devoted son taking care of his parents, especially our mother after our father's passing in 2000, and always put his loved ones first before himself.

Dave was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was dedicated in his service, with a strong love of God and family, wishing peace for everyone. He has now joined with our beloved parents, Jack and Edna. His brother Walter, nephew Daniel Wanless, and all four of his grandparents. He is survived by his siblings; Cheryl (Johnny) Maestas, John, Annee (J.C.) Reynolds, Carla, Douglas, Heather Norman, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He will be dearly missed!

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley View First Ward House located at 3820 South 2000 East in Millcreek, Utah. Friends and family can call at the church Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at the Salt Lake City Cemetery located at 200 North N Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
