On June 26th, 2011, Karleen Burt Barker answered the call for advancement to a more blissful life where her deceased husband, Cloyd Edison Barker has patiently resided since his departure 12-27-90.
She leaves her wonderful family the legacy of a Christ-centered life, with the keen expectation of meeting them again. Surviving her are children Wynn, Creed, Kindra Munk, Grael, Rowan, and Court, as well as 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and her sisters Lorele Neff, and Shanna Child. Preceding her in death are her husband, her father, John A. Burt; mother Geneve Graehl Burt, sister Bonnie and brother John G. Burt.
Karleen had a wonderful childhood growing up in East Millcreek and attended schools in the Granite District. She served a full time mission to the Great Lakes, and attended the U of U and BYU.
On November 20th, 1956, Karleen married Cloyd Barker in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in East Millcreek, Utah County (Lehi) and then Rockland, Idaho. Karleen moved back to Lehi at the death of her husband.
She has been a contributing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, filling the one full time mission and two part time missions.
Karleen's hobbies were family first, reading, watercoloring, geneology, poetry, Elder Quest classes and the computer. Her personality was fueled by the fascination she felt for life.
There was nothing she wouldn't sacrifice for her family. She benefited them with the wisdom she spent her life trying to acquire through religious and academic classes. She never stopped learning.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30th, 2011 11:30am at the Lehi 30th Ward, 3180 No. 300 W., where friends may visit with the family from 10 am to 11 am prior to the services.
