"Together Again"
Katherine (Kay) Jamieson was called back home by her Heavenly Father early in the morning of January 3 due to complications of surgery. She was ready and eager to return to her parents, sisters and husband.
Katherine was born to immigrant Dutch parents on Dec 18, 1924 in Seattle, Washington. After her father died when she was 4 years old her mother took Katherine and her 3 sisters to New Jersey to be closer to relatives. Her mother remarried and she and her family moved west to Salt Lake City when she was 16 years old. During World War II Katherine enlisted in the Air Force and worked in switchboard communications in California. She returned to Salt Lake City and worked as a switchboard operator for Mountain Bell and the federal government for many years. Katherine married Glen Earl Jamieson in 1946 and 8 years later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Kay was a very loving woman with a generous heart. She was actively engaged in her LDS ward and accepted numerous callings to serve in the Church, including a mission in Tampa, FL and two temple missions in Freiburg, Germany where she was able to put her fluency in Dutch and German to good use. Kay was very bright and self-motivated which contributed to her success in establishing a Weight Watchers franchise in Idaho. She also was a founding member of what is now Mountain America Credit Union. Kay worked extremely hard her entire life but always found time to help anyone who was in need. With 6 children of her own and a job outside of the home she still found time and energy to be a foster mother. She loved to cook and bake and crochet beautiful afghans. Dutch pastries and rice pudding were her specialties. Her absolute favorite thing to do was take a long ride with her family on Sunday afternoon just to see what was happening around town. Those who knew her well loved her deeply and her generous spirit will be truly missed.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband Glen Jamieson, grandson Corey Cook, and sisters Eva Graff and Geraldine Riley. She is survived by a sister Marge Thompson of East Grand Forks, MN, brother Gary Coomans of St. George, UT, sons Wally (Rosemary), Glen (Jenny), Terry, all of West Valley City, son Bob (Terry) of Nampa, ID, daughters Kim Cook of Pocatello, ID, and Tina (Audie) Watkins of Bourne, TX, eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
