Keith A. Briley (57) devoted father, adored papa and dearest friend took the hand of his higher power the evening of September 20th, 2022 peacefully in his sleep while at his home in Holladay, Utah.
Born on March 20th, 1965, and hand chosen by his adopted parents Florence and Richard Briley of Mission Viejo California. Keith was a force to be reckoned with from an early age. He lived a fun, adventurous and mischievous childhood. He spent his early days playing baseball, being the captain of his soccer team, long boarding the streets of California, delivering pizzas in high school and surfing on T-street in his early 20’s. Keith was never short of friends and touched the hearts of everyone he encountered. Keith had personal struggles with addiction that came to light early on. He made the brave decision to get sober in 1994 and he rose above his demons every day for 24 years before he lost his battle. Keith was proud of the success and friendships he found in AA; he carried those memories and friendships with him for a long time.
Keith was a talented potter, a skilled surfer, snow and water skier, an avid camper, ATV rider and vacationer (you could always find him on the beach). His passions included live music, the Grateful Dead with anything tie dyed, a beautifully made meal, along with fast cars, and his sweet dog Max. He was incredibly good at anything he put his mind to; anyone who had the chance to learn from him walked away with a new skill. Keith had beautiful craftmanship as you can see in the homes he remodeled throughout his life.
His company, Woodys Plumbing was the blood sweat, and fruit of his labor for over 20 years. Keith made a name for himself in the industry and made a huge impact on his business partners, who I know will miss him greatly. After a long struggle with his addiction in the last 5 years of his life the business shut down and is no longer operating.
Keith was an incredible father to his two resilient children. He provided the best life full of strong morals, hard work ethic and a lot of laughter. His larger than life laugh, loving hugs, generous nature and witty personality will be what we miss most about him. His granddaughter will miss being thrown around like a sack of potatoes, lunch dates, art time and having heart to hearts with her favorite Papa.
His loving family hopes that he’s a peace and has been greeted with so much love on the other side. Words seem so feeble in moments like these. Life is so precious and death such a thief. The depths of his pain we cannot comprehend. We stood alongside him in the darkness until the very end. Love is a bond that death cannot part, gone in our arms but still in our hearts. A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through. We love you dad, we always will, we know that’s enough for you.
Keith is survived by his daughter Jessica Briley (29) (Dane Andersen), his beautiful granddaughter Eyela (10) and his son Dylan Briley (25)
Keith is preceded in death by his parents Florence and Richard Briley, and his sister Karen Briley.
Keith will be cremated on October 11th, 2022, and a celebration of life event will be held in his honor on a later date. For more details, please call or text his daughter Jessica at 801-888-3156.
