Our loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away August 28, 2010 at a local hospital due to health complications. Born June 26, 1958 in Reno, Nevada the son to Roy Sylvester and Doris Jean Thomas Bauer. Married Gaylene Marie Schmardebeck on Oct 12, 1996 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.
He was raised in Fernley, NV, but always considered Kansas home. He attended Ricks College, BYU, Pittsburg State with a bachelors degree in Nursing. He served an LDS Mission to Louisiana Shreveport and later served in the Mississippi Jackson Mission. He enjoyed traveling, temple work, family history, but his most favorite hobby was that of "Papa" to Bud, his Princess and Boo.
Survived by: wife, niece/daughter: Kassie Openshaw-Rodriguez (RJ) Salt Lake, Sisters: Tamie Cline (Bill) Umatilla, OR, Debbie (Oliver) Stone, Libby, MT, Alicia Bauer-Lawson, Savonburg, KS Brother: Robert Bauer, Iola, KS, three grandchildren: Austin, Ashlynne, and Andrew Rodriguez. Preceded in death by: father, mother, sisters: Sherrie Bauer and Amber Bauer and father-in-law, Gail Schmardebeck.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 2, 2010 at 11:00am at the Grandview 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 2930 South 2000 East. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30am to 10:40am prior to the services.
