Keith Cook Woolley was called home on Sunday June 10, 2007 at the age of 84. He was born to Wilda A. and Matthew Thomas Woolley on January 27, 1923, the youngest of three children and was raised in S.L.C. Keith entered World War II on December 21, 1942. He was a member of the 91st Reconnaissance Calvary, fighting in North Africa, Sicily and Italy, ending in the Po Valley as the war ended. He was part of first American troops to enter Milan, Italy after Italian partisans had killed Benito Mussolini. Keith married his eternal love, Dorothy Pittenger on June 20, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they've raised six children. Upon finishing his degree from the U of Utah, Keith began his teaching career in September of 1950 where he taught Physical Education and Health at Irving Junior High then at Glendale Junior High. He retired in June of 1986 after teaching for thirty-six years. Keith's second career was working summers for the U.S. Forest Service from 1953 through 1967. He started in the Farmington Flats area and later transferred to Mill Creek Canyon where he was promoted to Foreman of the Helatak fire fighting crew. As a member of the LDS church, he took great joy in his calling to work in the Salt Lake Temple for 34 years. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, fishing, hiking and skiing. He survived by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy; six children: Becky Ann (Mike) Scanlon, Robyn (Scott) Reese, Philip Braden (Deedo) Woolley, Diane (Gaylen) Nielson, Michelle (Chris) Hansen, and Jill Florence Woolley; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Luseane Vite and family for her loving care. Keith will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus 3rd Ward, 4100 South Camille Ave. (2522 East). A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, June 12, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and on Wednesday from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
