Kenneth “Ken” Wayne Paxman, age 72, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in his home surrounded by family in West Jordan, Utah after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson's and Dementia.
Ken was a Halloween baby, born on October 31, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ken was the son of Kenneth Eugene and Effie Paxman. He was the middle child of 3 boys. He graduated from Kearns High School in 1971 and went on to earn a two-year degree from Salt Lake Community College. He married his high school sweetheart Patty Martin, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 16, 1972. From a young age, Ken demonstrated a strong work ethic and a commitment to doing things the right way—values that would define his life both personally and professionally.
Ken dedicated over three decades of his career at Continental Steel. Through hard work and perseverance, he rose through the ranks to become a foreman—a role he held for many years. Despite his leadership position, Ken was never one to shy away from rolling up his sleeves and working alongside his crew. His hands-on approach and unwavering dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Throughout his life, Ken found joy in simple pleasures. As a young man he played baseball as a catcher and continued through high school—a sport that instilled in him teamwork and resilience. Later in life he enjoyed playing golf with his sons and friends or relaxing in his favorite chair watching tournaments with a bowl of snacks nearby. Boating trips with family were among his favorite pastimes. Above all else, Ken treasured time spent with family—especially with his grandchildren who brought him endless pride and happiness.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ken served diligently in many callings throughout the years. He especially valued his time as Executive Secretary and First Counselor in the Bishopric—a position he held for over seven years—as well as serving alongside Patty as an Ordinance Worker in the temple. His service reflected not only devotion but also humility and love for others.
Ken’s sense of humor was magnetic—he had an easygoing nature that made people feel at ease. He never took life too seriously but always took seriously the needs of those around him. Genuine to the core, he was known for doing anything for anyone without hesitation or expectation.
A die-hard BYU fan through thick and thin, Ken’s loyalty extended far beyond sports—it defined how he lived every day: with heart, humor, faithfulness, and love.
A devoted family man, Ken is survived by his beloved wife Patty; their four children: Ken (Jenn), Casey, Chris (Jill), and Cody (Aubry); and eight cherished grandchildren: Madeline, Ian, Connor, Savannah, Bella, JT, Lucas, and Ellie. He also leaves behind his brother Steve (Anne), brother-in-law Steve (Joella), sister-in-law Arlene, numerous nieces and nephews, and his loyal pets Max and Tobe.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Eugene and Effie Paxman; his in-laws Donald and Betty Martin; his brother Rick; and nephew Lance.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
