Kenneth L. Wilkerson

Ken passed away on July 27th, 2023, in Murray, Utah at the age of 85. He was born on November 10th, 1937, in Price, Utah to Thomas Carl and Verl C. Wilkerson.
He married the love of his life, Leola Fae Wilkerson on July 21st, 1962, and together they had four children, Tammy (Tim), Cathy (Jeff), Kenny and Brenda, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He had several siblings who all passed before him; his youngest brother, Jack, is the youngest living sibling from his family.
Ken served in the US Navy and was a member of the IBEW 354 as a master electrician for 61 years. He was enthusiastic about fast cars and was a co-owner with Mark Schouten on his last roadster. Together they won many races and 2 Salt Lake Valley Racing Association championships in 1974 and 1975. He was also the secretary/treasurer for the SLVRA in the early 70’s, in addition to being head mechanic for several different racing teams, but the one he cared most about was for his son, Kenny Jr. They took pride in their stock cars and late models, winning many races and four championships together.
He loved the outdoors, going camping, boating, and fishing with family often. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and loved spending time with his only son, Kenny. He was a great man, hard worker and always put his family’s needs first.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter, and granddaughter.
A viewing will be held on August 2, 2023, from 11am-1pm at Memorial Murray Mortuary – 5850 S 900 E Murray, Utah and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
