Kenneth Stout, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home October 7, 2013. Kenneth was born September 27, 1925 in Hurricane, Utah to Walter and Mary Stout. He grew up in Southern Utah, working with his father and brothers on the family saw mill. He joined the Army Air Force in 1943 during World War II, assigned to the 8th Air Force 34th Bomb Group based in England. He flew combat missions over Germany, Czechoslovakia, Holland, and Belgium with the B-17 group. At war's end, he returned to Salt Lake City where he met the love of his life, Joyce Gillespie, whom he married November 19, 1948. Ken went to work in the truck transport business, working several years at Inland Freight Lines, and subsequently IML Freight in Salt Lake City. Ken worked hard all his life and truly loved his job.
Ken is survived by wife Joyce and four sons, Douglas, Russell, Kenneth (David), and Kurt, and many grand children and great grand children. Special thanks to all the healthcare professionals from Physician Home Care, Millcreek Home Health, Salus Homecare, and Home Instead who assisted our family during the past months with our father's care.
A private graveside service will be held for family and friends at Sunset Lawn in Salt Lake City.
