Kent Richard Carpenter

Kent R. Carpenter, 73, of Provo, Utah, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015.

Born to the late Paul J. Carpenter and Dorothy Prince Carpenter, May 20, 1942 in Cedar City, UT, Kent grew up between Orderville, UT, Twin Falls, ID and the Sugar House area in SLC.  Kent loved Twin Falls and often told of his adventures there with his dog Sandy. Kent graduated from Highland High School followed by a BS degree in Marketing & Management from the University of Utah in 1970 and later received an MBA specializing in Global Management and an MA in Organizational Development & Management.

Kent and Mary Sander Carpenter were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity and were together in this life for 50 years.  Mary preceded Kent in death in 2013.  Kent was a patient, loving, loyal caregiver with Mary as she was ill for many years.  Kent & Mary started their family in Midvale, Utah and went on to live in Redmond, WA, Pleasant Grove, UT, Pittsford, NY and Tomball, TX.  Kent was fortunate enough to marry again when he met Susan Deputy.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple and resided in Provo, UT.

Kent was a hard worker who cut his teeth in business working at Wonder Bread & Hostess Cake in SLC, UT.  Kent had many fond memories and great stories about working his cake route in the SLC Avenues.  After graduation from the U of U Kent went on to work at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Nature's Way, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Astra Zeneca.  Kent also started and ran two start-up companies.  Kent would want mentioned that with his death he has finally reached retirement, or as he called it, FOFWW (Fat old fart with watch).

Kent was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Kent was set apart as a High Priest by Elder LeGrand Richards who told Kent there is no such thing as in-actives.  Kent took this advice to heart and always strived to find and help lost souls.  Among his many callings, Kent served as the Bishop of the Bellevue, WA 7th Ward, Stake Missionary, LDS Employment Specialist, LDS Seminaries, and in High Councils.  One of Kent's most precious memories was helping organize and build the Asian branch in the Bellevue Stake.  Kent was a kind and generous man, always giving to those in need.  Kent would face each day looking for ways to uplift those around him, lend a listening ear, and bring joy to anyone having a bad day.  He was a man of honor and integrity and leaves a lasting legacy of love in all our hearts.  Kent did so much good for so many. One of Kent's favorite sayings was, "tough times don't last, but tough people do."

Kent is survived by his beautiful wife, Susan Deputy Carpenter, Provo, UT ; Siblings, Kirt Carpenter (Gayla), Kanab, UT, Patricia Nygren (Brad), Salt Lake City, UT;  Children, Michael Carpenter (Corinne), Sammamish, WA; Todd Carpenter (Karen), Sammamish, WA; Greg Carpenter (Rosanne), Nazareth, PA; and Danielle Turner (Ron), West Richland, WA. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at the LDS Pleasant View 2nd Ward, 650 E. Stadium Ave, Provo, UT.  Viewing will be from 8:30-9:30am, funeral service 10-11am.  Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, UT in the Rosemont Section.
