Kevin Armon Jones

August 18, 1954 — January 31, 2026

Kevin Jones passed away on 31 January, but the exact date will likely never be known. He was born in Midvale on August 18, 1954, to Vella K Brown and David Edward Jones. He was the younger brother to Michael, which meant he had to handle teasing and torment at a young age.

He was always friendly and curious about all things in life. He had a fascination with nature and travel which he did extensively as he grew older. At a young age he was always wanting to know the “why” and “where” about a variety of subjects. School was one of his many joys because of the challenges which he excelled at.

He graduated from Jordan high with honors in 1972 which propelled him to attend BYU followed by a master’s degree at the University of Utah. He worked at Kennecott Copper and Lacaille Restaurant to pay for his schooling and when he began teaching school, always threatened his students if they failed in school, they would find themselves working for Kennecott making more salary than his.

His education took him overseas to international schools in which he taught English and History. Time spent in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka taught him about diversity, and many cultures around the world. He met one of his lifelong friends, Lucky and his family, and lived with them in Sri Lanka several years.

Proceeded in Death by his parents, and brother Richard G. Hess. Survived by older sister Merlene J. Hess and brother Michael E. (Brenda) Jones.

Graveside services will be held February 17, 2026, at 2 PM. Location will be Memorial Redwood estates 6500 So Redwood Road, West Jordan.
