Lael Evelyn Rhino passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2008. She was born on December 14, 1928 in Middle River, MN to Ruth and Judd Simpson. Her parents moved to Broadview, IL where she was raised.
She married Kenneth Rhino on May 25, 1947. They lived in Elmhurst, IL for many years and she worked as a switchboard operator and payroll clerk during much of her adult life. After retiring to Door County, WI with her husband, she operated a secretarial service from her home.
She cared about people and made friends of her clients and caregivers, remembering important events and details of their lives. Throughout her life and especially during her later years, she was a great inspiration to many. She endured a 16 year struggle with Multiple Sclerosis with dignity and grace. She had multiple hospitalizations during her last two years but maintained a zest for life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 half-sisters, 1 half-brother and her beloved husband. She eagerly looked forward to being reunited with him in heaven. She is survived by her daughter, Sherri and Rich Hannon and her brother, Dale and Johanna Simpson. She also leaves behind 3 grandsons: Chris and Ayse Hannon, Justin and Afton Hannon, and Eric Hannon. She had one great-grandson, Sebastian who was a delight to her.
