Obituary

Our dear son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, Lafayette Frederick Taylor, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 23rd, 2025. He passed on his birthday, which feels exactly like something Lafe would do. Lafe was one of a kind. He was loyal, big-hearted, and always tuned in to the people around him. He had a gift for making each of us feel seen and important.

Lafe was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and a devoted fan of the rock band KISS. If the Bears were on the TV or KISS was blasting through the speakers, he was right where he wanted to be. He was also a huge fan of professional wrestling, and his favorite tag-team was The Road Warriors.

He was a good neighbor and a good friend. Lafe was steady, approachable, and protective, and he wanted people to feel safe when he was around. He checked in on people, sent random hellos, and made time for anyone who needed a conversation. He loved a good story and could get you laughing or reminiscing in minutes.

He touched more lives than he probably ever knew, and he will be missed more than words can express.

Lafe is proceeded in death by his mother Sue Ann Whitt Taylor, his nephew Bryce Robert Taylor, and his niece Tessa Marie. Lafe is survived by his father, Fred (Cheryl) Taylor, his siblings and their families, Brian (Michelle) Taylor, Steven (Cary) Taylor, Tami (Roger) Petersen, Seth (Liz) Taylor, Morgan (Jamie) Taylor, Michael Dart, and Nykelle Taylor, step-children Roland Weaver, Finn Weaver, and Ireland Weaver, and by friends who loved him deeply. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 1st between 10 am and 12 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.

He preferred saying “bye for now”, so bye for now, Lafe. Our hearts weren’t ready for this one.
