It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lamar Gilbert Martinez, age 67, of West Jordan, Utah, on September 6, 2026.

Lamar was born on March 3, 1959, in Salt Lake County, Utah, to Gilbert A. Martinez and Dian Lundquist Martinez. Throughout his adult life, Lamar was known for his loving heart, gentle spirit, kindness, compassion, dependability, empathy, resilience, and adventurous nature. He touched the lives of all who knew him and left a lasting impression through his genuine care for others.

Lamar was employed by Falco Concrete and dedicated his career to foundation construction, taking great pride in his work and the craftsmanship he brought to every project. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie of his colleagues and looked forward to the daily conversations and friendships formed while carpooling to and from work.

Outside of work, Lamar had a passion for poker, sports, and cars, and he enjoyed following football, basketball, baseball, and golf. He also loved the excitement and tradition of rodeo, particularly bull riding. Whether cheering on a favorite team, sharing stories with friends, or spending time with family, Lamar embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Above all, Lamar treasured his family. His unwavering love, strength, and support were a constant source of comfort to those closest to him. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and as a man whose kindness and generosity enriched the lives of countless people.

Lamar is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Velarde Martinez; his mother, Dian Lundquist Martinez; his son, Charles Martinez; his daughter, Denise Martinez; bonus daughter Ashley Paramore and his grandchildren, Luciano, Emiliana, Jojo, McKenna, Kaylyn, Dallas, and Nash.

He is also survived by his siblings, Kelly Martinez (Eric Brunson), Tina Martinez Miller (Scott Miller), Todd Martinez, and Jason Martinez, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Lamar was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert A. Martinez; his son, Landon Paramore; his granddaughter, Isabel Martinez; and his grandparents, Malaquias and Tiofila Martinez and Barney and Annie Lundquist.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the memories he leaves behind and the love he shared so freely. His legacy of compassion, hard work, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
