Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend Larry Allen Baxter passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his Salt Lake City home.
Larry was born in Heber City, Utah, May 31, 1937, to Allen LeRoy Baxter and Anna Kezia Erickson Baxter, the third of their six children. He graduated from Wasatch High School, and he later earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He served an LDS mission to Canada. He also served in the military, playing the trumpet in the 23rd Army Band.
He married Virginia Jameson on March 2, 1962, and together they had four children. He worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Utah, retiring in 2003. Larry was an active member of the church, and he enjoyed serving in many different capacities including scout master, ward clerk, executive secretary, and leadership positions in his Elder's Quorum and High Priest's Group. He and Virginia served in the Utah Salt Lake City Mission 2006 - 2008.
He is survived by his wife; children, Vicki (Scott) Hatch, Lori (Shawn) Thomas, Andrew (Kendra) Baxter, and Michael (Jennifer) Baxter; siblings, Nadine Thacker, Evan (Donna) Baxter, Lynn (Eileen) Baxter, and Joyce (Don) Gale; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim 1st Ward building located at 3000 S. Grace St. (3100 E.), where friends and family can visit Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
