Larry Dean Holfeltz

We lost our father Larry Dean Holfeltz Thursday, Sept 26, 2024. He had been fighting cancer and so many other ailments over the past 10 or 20 years. Larry was born July 6, 1945 in Roosevelt, Utah to George W. Holfeltz and Nedra Elizabeth Stevens. He was very close to his siblings Valeen, George, and Steven. He was a fighter to the end! Larry grew up in Jarbidge, then moved to Castleford, Idaho, where he graduated from high school! He joined the Navy and made it his career! He retired as a Warrant Officer and went on to do several different jobs, like fireman, driving 18 wheelers, being active with everything that interested him. 

He married Maudeen Mounteer in 1969, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 5 children. Wayland (Joy), Jason, Todd (Kathy), Meagan (Draden) and Katie (Cody). Later they adopted Sydnie (Clint) and Whitney. They had 18 grandchildren, Ben, Kegan, Tavia, Shalae, George, Zach, Josh, Hyrum, Ethan, Nedra, Emily, Kaydin, Statie, Jayce, Luna, Sawyer, Oadie, Willow and 3 great grandchildren. He and his wife took in and raised many children who were in need of a stable home environment. Dad was proud of his family and always took time to be there for them. Dad and mom made family the center of their lives, all roads lead to their house and dad’s BBQ’s, chili, and weekend breakfasts. 

Dad loved holidays but especially enjoyed helping with the fireworks on the 4th of July and anything that made people and kids smile in enjoyment! Halloween was his favorite “holiday”! He and his wife went all out for this night of fun! They had everything from caskets to witches and wizards to scare all that went to their home. He always looked forward to his visits to his childhood home Jarbidge and loved telling his family stories of growing up there.

 The family is grateful that his son Jason was by his side and cared for him during this difficult time in his life. He was his constant companion, and they could often be found together planning dad’s next shenanigans. We are also grateful for the service and love he received from the many ward members and caregivers that dad had. 

The viewing will be held on Friday October 4th from 10-11 am at the Kaysville 5th Ward, on 201 East 600 South Kaysville, UT, 84037, the funeral service will follow from 11-12:30 pm. A graveside will follow at 1 pm at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, on 6500 South, Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
