Larry Norman Klingler of Draper, Utah, passed away on 1 January 2026, in Millcreek, Utah, at the age of 88. He fought a valiant and long-lasting battle against various health issues, including cancers and the heart. Larry passed through the veil to return to our Heavenly Father. He was a beloved husband and father—a stalwart son of our Heavenly Father with a deep love of family and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Larry was born on 17 August 1937, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Godfrey Christopher Klingler and Eulalia Ovard Klingler. He was the sixth of seven children. He grew up farming and spending time in nature. At the age of 17, Larry joined the Idaho National Guard, where he served for two years. He attended and graduated from Ricks College. He served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern Australian Mission, where he also played basketball for the Mormon Yankees, winning the Victoria State Championship Tournament. He later graduated from Brigham Young University in business and accounting and took a job in Los Angeles, California. There he met and married Sherrie LaDawn Grundvig on 17 September 1965, in the Los Angeles Temple. Larry and Sherrie had six children—Lynne, Steve, Brenda, Shannon, Ken, and Phil.
In 1970, Larry and Sherrie moved to Utah, where Larry accepted the job of controller for the Snowbird Ski Resort. In 1976, Larry left Snowbird and started his own accounting firm—Larry N. Klingler & Associates. The company grew and thrived with his hard work and ethical practices. Larry retired when he turned 80 years old. His son, Ken, now manages the business.
In December of 1994, Larry and Sherrie divorced. The next year, he met and married Fay Alldredge Daley in the Salt Lake Temple on 6 October 1995. Fay had six children from her previous marriage—Terri, Tasha, Marcus, Angel, Dawn, and Tim. Larry and Fay chose to do their best to combine the two families into one. They had many wonderful parties and gatherings—camping, gold panning, sumo wrestling, making time capsules, and family story sticks.
In addition to many years of church service, Larry served a part-time nine-year service mission with his wife Fay on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additionally, Larry and Fay served in the Crosslands Branch of their Stake at the Atria Independent and Assisted Living centers. Larry served as Branch President and Fay served as Relief Society President. Larry had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and had a deep love for the Church and Heavenly Father’s representatives here on earth. He gave completely of himself to his beloved wife, Fay, and all their 12 children in their blended family. With pureness of heart and unconditional love, Larry supported and cheered them on in life. He was compassionate, caring, and desired to serve. Larry leaves an indelible legacy of grace, love, laughter, and an example of a true disciple of Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed but we, as a family, are thankful for the knowledge of eternal families, and the opportunity to be together again.
He is survived by his wife, Fay (Alldredge), and their children: Lynne Coe (Marlan), Terra Flores (Gonzalo), Steve Klingler (Shawnya), Natasha Call (Steve), Brenda Boyd (Lonnie), Marcus Daley (Sandra), Shannon West (James), Angela Yap (Andrew), Ken Klingler (Heather), Dawn Daley, Phillip Klingler (Angela), Tim Daley (Lisa). Larry loved and is also survived by his growing posterity of 40 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Godfrey and Eulalia, his siblings—Dorthy, Marion, Velma, Richard, Clayne, and Blaine—and his former wife Sherrie (Grundvig).
