LaRue Wood Leatham passed away February 29, 2016 in Midvale, Salt Lake County, Utah. She was born October 11, 1921 in Springville, Utah County, Utah to James Corbridge Wood and Minetta Adeline Walton Wood.
She attended Bountiful Junior High in Bountiful, Utah, Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, and then graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
LaRue married Fredrick Richard Gardina, September 20, 1940, they later divorced and Fredrick preceded LaRue in death.
She married Eldon Norgren Leatham on July 20, 1976. Eldon preceded LaRue in death on July 19, 1984 and he is truly missed.
She retired after 15 years working in the cartography (map making) section in the new 28 story Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints office building in Salt Lake City, Utah. She enjoyed her work immensely and also loved nature and traveling.
LaRue dearly loved the six beautiful children she had, as well as her eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, ReNae auCiel; sons, Steven R. Gardina, Gary L. (Mae) Gardina, Darold J. (Cheryl) Gardina; and daughter-in-law, Brit Gardina. She is preceded in death by sons, Brent W. Gardina, Mark A. Gardina; brothers, Delbert W. (Zola) Wood, Leo W. (Doris) Wood, and Keith W. (Barbara) Wood.
She wished to express her love and appreciation to her Leatham family; Bill & Debbie Leatham, Carolyn L. & John (deceased) Mount, Helen L. McDonald, Marie L. & Robert (deceased) Dean, Diane L. Graham, Janeice L. & John Perry (both deceased), and all the Leatham grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 12 Noon at the Centerville City Cemetery, 650 East 400 South, Centerville, Utah. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday evening 6:00-8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
There will also be a private family gathering at Holbrook Mortuary Saturday morning 10:00-11:00am prior to the graveside service.
