LaVella Taggart Burt "Moms"

LaVella Taggart Burt, age 92, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the same home in which she was born. She was born October 27, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mary Laird and Henry M. Taggart. LaVella was a member of the first graduating class of South High School in 1932. She married Wallace LeRoy Burt on June 4, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised a family of three sons and two daughters. LaVella was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived its Christ-like teachings. She served in many leadership positions including temple worker. She also served a mission with her husband at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego. She gave a life of service to the church, friends, community and family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, as they saw much of the U.S. and Canada in their motor home. She enjoyed sports and games. LaVella was the #1 fan of her children and grandchildren. She was very creative with needlework and crafts. Her very favorite activity was spending time with family. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentleness. She is survived by her children: Sharon (Howard) Ringwood, Roger (Karen) Burt, Clark (Annie) Burt, Scott (Pam) Burt, Donna (Scott) Gillespie, and Anne Burt; 26 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Emerson Ward, 1700 South 1100 East. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, April 5, 2007 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and on Friday morning from 10:30 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. at the church prior to services.
