Lena De Waal Hagen, 93, passed away Thursday February 7th at her home. She was born in Salt Lake on December 31, 1914 to Anna Marie Brouws and Martinus De Waal. On December 26, 1933 she married Melvin Seymore Hagen and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Lena loved her family and showed them the importance of hard work. For 30 years she worked at the Boston Buildings bringing joy to all who knew her. Lena's smile was bright and welcoming greeting everyone like a good friend. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel and was always in the service of her fellow men. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Lynn Hagen; 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. She is survived by her sons, Norman (Betty) Hagen of California, Eugene (Grace) Hagen of Salt Lake City; One brother, Jacob De Waal; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 13, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Valley View 12th Ward, 2125 East Evergreen Ave (3435 South). Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday morning at the church from 10:45am to 11:45am prior to services.
