Leo Byron Adams passed away peacefully on April 16, 2012 at his home in Holladay, Utah. He was born December 11, 1926 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Alfred Franklin and Sarah Ellen Brown Adams. Leo married his sweetheart Raquel Kay Bird on July 1, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away May 24, 2001.
Leo graduated with Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Utah and served his career as a Psychiatric Social Worker for the Veteran's Administration in Salt Lake City. Leo was a veteran of the Air Force. He loved being an official scorekeeper for the University of Utah Basketball games which he did for many years. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Bishop, counselor in the Salt Lake Stake Presidency and Temple Worker. He loved serving the Lord and his fellowmen. He loved people and enjoyed being in nature, whether skiing, planting a garden or keeping bees, chickens, geese and lambs.
Leo is survived by his daughter Sara Melinda Adams and sister Erma Adams Kunzler. Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Raquel, daughter Anne, his parents and siblings, Alfred Reed Adams, Josephine Adams Schlattmann, Franklin Brown Adams, Fred Clark Adams, Glenn W. Adams and Dorothy Adams Wadley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Olympus 5th Ward Chapel, 3070 East Nila Way (4140 South). Friends may visit with the family at a viewing on Friday evening at the church from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and also on Saturday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to services. Interment and dedication of the grave will be at the Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden at 1:30 pm.
