Leone Damron Taylor

July 19, 1921 — June 3, 2015

Leone Damron Taylor, 93, our loving mother, passed away, June 3rd, 2015, after struggling for many years with diabetes and other health concerns.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 19, 1921 to William Reed Damron and Mabel Leone Duckworth.  She married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) B. Taylor on October 15, 1941, in Preston, Idaho.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Leone spent her youth and school years in Magna, Utah, attending Cyprus High School.  Leone and Bill built a home in the East Mill Creek area where they resided until his death in 2002.  She served faithfully in many positions in the auxiliary organizations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Her main focus in life was a devotion to her family.  In addition, as a warm people person, she enjoyed the friendship of high school friends in a sewing club that met for over 50 years.   She was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Magna Senior Center community often attending two or more times a week even while living in East Mill Creek.  She loved to crochet, read, play bingo, cards, fishing and camping trips with her family.  To help support her family, she occasionally did catering and housekeeping outside the home.  She was an excellent cook and took pride in an immaculate home.  When grandchildren came into her life, she really excelled.  She was devoted to all 14.  After the death of her husband, she purchased a condo and again returned to her roots in the Magna/West Valley area.  As she had done all her life, she demonstrated a positive, pleasant outlook on life as a widow for over 12 years.  She continued being a friend to all and made new and lasting friendships in her condo community.

Leone is survived by her children, Nancy (Norman) Weber, Joan (Garrie) Smith and Barbara (Newell) Hardy, 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild (2 more arriving soon). Also, a sister, Ruth (Keith) Bennett and brother, William Roy (Jackie) Damron.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Marvin and Grant Damron and sister, June McGill.

Thank you, mother, for an exemplary life of selfless love and family devotion.  Always demonstrating a pleasant, kind and generous nature, no matter the hardships.  We love you deeply.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Hunter Village Ward Chapel, 3450 South 6400 West, West Valley City, Utah, where friends and family are invited to visit 9:30-10:30am prior to the service.   Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah.
