Leroy Charles Drexl

April 26, 1920 — July 3, 2008

LeRoy Charles Drexl passed away July 3, 2008 at his home. Roy was born April 26, 1920 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Charles and Catherine Classen Drexl. He was raised in California and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After an honorable discharge in April 1941, Roy was employed by the CAA/FAA. At a cafAC. in Glendale, Nevada, Roy met the love of his life, Laura, whom he married on May 11, 1943, later sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple. During WWII, Roy served again in the U.S. Navy. After the war, he worked at the Mormon Mesa, Nevada; Enterprise, Utah; St. George, Utah; Daggett, California; and Salt Lake City airports. Together, they raised two daughters, with ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Roy retired in 1977; and in 1979 with his wife, served in the Oregon, Portland Mission. His church service included extensive years as Clerk and Executive Secretary, but he often said the best job in the church was Dance Director for the Dance Festival Committee. While each of these things place Roy in space and time, who he was, and how he has impacted the lives of those he touched cannot be written here. Instead they are written in our hearts, minds, and lives. Collectively, we cannot wait to greet him again. Roy is survived by his wife Laura, daughter Sue & husband Kurt Carlson and daughter Lila and husband Dennis Foster. Also survived by grandchildren: Brett & Alicia Thelin, Jody T. & Erik Hansen, Todd & Amelia Thelin, C.R. & MarKay Thelin, Catie Thelin, Jenny T. & Carl Kynaston, Tim & Allison Thelin , RaChelle F. & Charlie Sumpter, Teri F. & Ryan Josephson, and Stephanie F. & Jake Hunter. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 7, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kenwood 2nd Ward, 1765 Gregson Ave (3080 South). Friends may visit with the family Sunday evening at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
