Lewis Henry DeYoung was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry and Marion Smith DeYoung on May 5, 1925. He married Audrey Jean Goates in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 1, 1951. He was educated at Granite High School and the University of Utah. He was an outstanding draftsman and building construction Superintendant and engineer. He could repair or build anything. He worked for the best construction companies in Utah, before he owned and operated his own business Turn Key Corporation. He designed and built many homes, post offices, schools, bridges, restaurants, and office buildings in Utah and California. His building projects are masterpieces of his outstanding skill, perfection, and design. He spent his life building, remodeling and fixing things for others. He did his finest work for family and friends, mostly free of charge.

He was actively involved his entire life in positions of leadership and instruction in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two and one half year mission for the church in Holland. He was a devout member of the church and had a strong testimony, and an outstanding knowledge of the Book Of Mormon. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was proud of and interested in each and every one of his 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He would make any sacrifice for them, no matter how great.

Survivors include his six sons and daughters: Lewis H. DeYoung II (Lillie Ann), Rebecca Jean Gibb (Charles), Lesley B. DeYoung (Vivianne), Linda Helen Heaton (Grant), Laury B. DeYoung (Christy), & Lyndon C. DeYoung (Jaelene), 30 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Also by two sisters, Anne D. Call and Neoma D. Lloyd, and brothers, Melvin H., Donald R., and Rulon F. DeYoung, and many nieces and nephews who looked to him as a great example. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Audrey Jean Goates, whom he missed dearly, as well as his parents Henry and Marion, a sister Ruth D. Knowlton, two brothers, John W. and Lowell S. DeYoung, and one great-grandchild MandaLyn.

Funeral services will be held in the East Mill Creek First Ward chapel, 2702 East Evergreen Avenue (3435 South), on Friday September 17th at 12:00 Noon. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
