Beloved Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Aunt, Mother, Wife, Friend, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Mother, " Lillian A. (Navas) Arguelles. She left us suddenly after a long, vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and unforgettable memories. Born in Granada, Nicaragua, to Lidia Medina and Augusto Cesar Navas, she was the youngest of four siblings and moved to the United States as a young teen, settling in San Francisco.
Lillian met the love of her life, Evaristo Arguelles, with whom she shared a marriage full of devotion, laughter, and adventure from 1966 until his passing in 2021. Together, they raised a beautiful family. She is survived by her only son, Cesar Cajal, and her daughters, Norma Herbert, Vivian Ortega, and Elsa Pleites. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Lillian was a woman of exceptional beauty and depth. She was known for her sensitivity, tenderness, and warmth, yet she was also strong, daring, and unshakably wise. Her loved ones remember her as a force—intellectual, compassionate, witty, generous, and protective. She was elegant, flirtatious, clever, and uniquely one-of-a-kind. To us, she was all that and so much more.
Her memory will forever be a source of joy, strength, and love to everyone who knew her.
She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
