Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lily Thorell Sperry passed away on May 25, 2014 in Gilbert, Arizona. She was born on November 12, 1922 to Linus Anderson Thorell and Maria Janson. She married her eternal companion, Don Sperry, in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 3, 1946. She and Don established a loving home in Salt Lake City, where she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served diligently in a variety of church callings throughout her life. In 1963, her husband Don was called to serve as principal of the Church College of New Zealand and she happily accompanied him on this adventure, living with their children in New Zealand for a number of years.
Lily had a contagious smile, positive attitude, and a love of life! She enjoyed swimming, camping, hiking, yoga, square dancing, traveling, and meeting new people. Lily loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she taught them to love the Lord and serve others. She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Randy) Spackman, Charles (Marietta) Sperry, Ronald (Gwen) Sperry, and Trish (Dwight) Hinton; and by her eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Don Sperry; her brothers, Willard and Roy Thorell and her sisters, Irene, Neva Clayton, Ellice and Elfie.
