Linda Jean Edwards James

September 26, 1943 — February 6, 2023

Linda Jean Edwards James, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 6, 2023.
Linda was born September 26, 1943, to Leland Seldon Edwards and Verona Elizabeth Erickson in Logan, Utah, the fifth of their ten children. She was raised in Logan and graduated from Logan High. Shortly after graduating, she began working at Thiokol in Brigham City, Utah, as a secretary. She later moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where she worked as a secretary and receptionist for Rep. David S. King and Sen. Frank Moss.
While in Washington, she met the love of her life, Robert James. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1969. They lived in Alexandria, Virginia for the first few years of their marriage before moving back to Utah, where they have lived since. Together they raised four daughters.
Linda was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and a fantastic cook. She loved opening her home to family and friends, and would make sure that no one ever left hungry. Her grandchildren spent countless hours in “Grandma’s reading room” with her, where they cuddled and read book after book. She loved having them over for activities for nearly every holiday – dying Easter eggs, bobbing for apples, making homemade candies for Christmas – and her Halloween chili parties were an annual tradition.
In 2016, Linda was reunited with her first-born daughter, whom she had placed for adoption, and her family was complete with the instant addition of three more grandchildren.
Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert James; daughters Stephani (Ted) Mitchell, Karin (Troy) Allen, Elizabeth (Jason) Miller, Amanda James, Angela James; 11 grandchildren: Abby Allen, Adrian (Sarah) Miller, Kate Allen, Verona Miller, Angela Mitchell, Zachary Miller, Aubrey Altenes, Jessica Mitchell, Genevieve Miller, Wyatt Altenes, and Tony Mitchell; and great-granddaughter Alice Miller. Also survived by siblings Janice Habel, Sandra (Ed) Olsen, Lee (Chris) Edwards, Roberta (Mike) Clement, Alan (Cheryl) Edwards, Verona Fogleman, Kevin Edwards, and David (Rexann) Edwards. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice Edwards, and sister-in-law Lindalee Edwards.
