Our beloved mom, Gma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin, and friend, Linda Sizemore, passed away on July 14, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 77 years old.
Linda was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 26, 1947, to James and Jeanette John. Throughout her life, she embodied strength, humor, and an incredible capacity for love. She faced many health struggles, but nothing ever kept her down for long—she was one of the toughest women you could ever meet.
Linda loved the simple joys of life: owls, the color orange (or as she charmingly pronounced it, “oinch”), reading mystery novels, and listening to the classics from the 1950s—especially Bobby Vinton and Frank Sinatra. Her laugh was contagious, and she found humor in the everyday, especially when teased about her quirky sayings.
She had a gift for making friends wherever she went. From hospital volunteers and cardiac rehab therapists to an online game partner from New Zealand who became a 13-year friend, Linda left lasting impressions everywhere. She was the kind of person who connected deeply and sincerely, and those lucky enough to know her felt it.
Family was everything to her. She was a proud and devoted mom, grandma, great-grandma, and aunt. Even when she couldn’t be near some of her out-of-state grandkids and nieces, she never stopped talking about them or bragging about their accomplishments to her friends. She had a close, special bond with her niece and great-niece in Montana and cherished her lifelong friendships that remained constant through the years.
Linda is survived by her children: Robert McConkay, Cheryl Butterfield (Ken), and Michael Sizemore (Tammy), as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Paddy.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Her spark, strength, and fierce love will be missed beyond measure—but her memory will live on in all the hearts she touched.
