Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother Loie Larsen passed away July 24, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born March 29, 1925, in Salt Lake City to George Edward White and Alice Gunn White. She graduated from Granite High School. Loie married Leland G. Larsen September 11, 1944, in the Salt Lake Temple.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served throughout her life in various Church callings, including Primary and Relief Society presidencies. She and her companion of 61 years served four temple missions in London, England; Washington, D.C.; Manila, Philippines, and Salt Lake City. She was an excellent homemaker and wonderful mother who made her husband and family the center of her life.
She is survived by her children: daughters Ruth (Tillman) Chaplin, Sharon (John) Hom, Becky (Dale) Bills, Beth (Nils) Lingwall; and sons Gerald (Jackie) Larsen, Mark (Ann) Larsen, Bryan (Melodie) Larsen. Also survived by a sister, Dorothy Armstrong, a brother, Don White, 40 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Kenwood 1st Ward, 1765 East 3080 South, Salt Lake City. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening, July 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the ward building on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial at Elysian Gardens in Murray, Utah.
