Lois Eleanor (Nuttall) Anderson

May 15, 1928 — December 2, 2014

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Lois Eleanor Nuttall Anderson, age 86, slipped peacefully from her earthly existence after family had gathered near her side, sharing their love and one last kiss.  We know she was welcomed by her loving parents, family, and friends who awaited her arrival on the other side.   What peace we feel knowing she is now with them and able to see, hear, and clearly communicate the thoughts in her heart.

Lois was born May 15, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Herbert Ericksen Nuttall and Josephine Malinda Winchell.  Her early years were spent in Elko, Nevada.  Her family moved to Salt Lake City in 1942 where she graduated from East High School in 1946.  She attended the University of Utah where she was a member of the Ute Marching Band.  In her senior year, she met her sweetheart John.  She graduated in Dietetics in 1950.  John and Lois continued corresponding while she completed her internship in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital and John pursued his Masters at Stanford University.  Lois obtained a job at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, at which time she became a member of the LDS Church.  Lois married John Walter Anderson on July 1, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.   While raising her four children, Lois worked weekends as an Administrative Dietician at the Salt Lake LDS Hospital where she eventually retired.

Lois was a gifted homemaker.  Her greatest accomplishment was that of being a loving wife and mother.  She loved cooking, sewing, and gardening.  She enjoyed her grandchildren, family vacations including years at Yellowstone, the family cabin in Midway, Sunday family dinners, and travelling with family and friends.  Lois cherished her neighbors and her East Millcreek 9th ward family.   She faithfully served in many church callings, including Relief Society President and counselor, compassionate service leader, primary teacher, cub scout leader, while always supporting John in his leadership positions.

Lois is survived by her husband, John Walter Anderson; children, Susan (George) Mathis, Brent (Wendy) Anderson, Jodie (Larry) Crowder, and Julie (Doug) Dredge; 17 grandchildren and 19½ great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Bill) Boren; brother, Eric (Cindy) Nuttall.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 am at the East Millcreek 9th Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane.  A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East and at the 9th Ward from 8:30 to 9:30 am prior to services on Saturday.  Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive. Online tributes and memories can be sent to the family at www.HolbrookMortuary.com

The family would like to thank Legacy House of Taylorsville for their kind, loving care of Lois for the past year.
