Lois Jane Weagle (79) passed away at home in Murray, Utah on October 28, 2026 following several long term illnesses. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 1, 1946 to Paul (Dean) VerDean Kunze and Helen Jane Bowes Kunze.
Lois grew up in Salt Lake City, where she attended Whittier Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High, and South High. She went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Utah, later earning a Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Rhode Island.
While working in Massachusetts, Lois met Gary Phillips Weagle. The two were married and sealed for eternity on August 5, 1976, in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Early in their marriage, Lois and Gary moved several times—living in Massachusetts, Utah, California, and Colorado—before finally returning to Utah and settling into their current home in 1986.
Lois dedicated over 45 years of her life to helping others as a Registered Nurse, working in various hospital settings across several states. She also shared her knowledge as an adjunct professor for Weber State University and worked in home health care.
When not working, Lois enjoyed several hobbies. She played the piano and organ. She loved to read and could always be found with a book. When her eyesight made it too difficult to read easily, she listened to audio books. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, creating intricate bobbin lace, and tatting. Lois loved holidays and liked to decorate her home year round, her favorite holiday being Christmas.
Above all, Lois loved her family deeply. She was a proud wife, mom, mother-in-law, and grandma who absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her happiest moments were spent simply being together with her family.
She was a life long active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and her Savior and brother Jesus Christ. She had a knowledge of the Plan of Happiness and knew that death is only a temporary separation from our loved ones. Throughout her life of service, her favorite church callings were spent working with the children in the Primary.
Lois is survived by her eternal companion, Gary; her children, Mary (Darren) Wilson, Jenny Weagle, and Adam (Jessica) Weagle; her grandchildren, Augustus, Archer, and Airabelle Weagle; her bonus grandchildren, James Wilson, Abbie (Garrett) Hale, and Kiera Wilson; her brothers, Doug (Betty) Kunze and Dale (Mary) Kunze; her sister, Sue (John) Whaley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers David (Suzy) Kunze and Don Kunze.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring hospice team at Community Nursing Services for their dedicated and gentle care during Lois's final months.
