Lonnie Jay Wilkes, 46 passed away at his home in Southaven, Mississippi on August 26, 2010 after courageously battling cancer. He was born June 20, 1964 in Henderson, Nevada to Walter Doyle Wilkes and Judy Claudette Estes Wilkes.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karin of Southaven; daughter Melissa of Southaven and daughter Michelle of Salt Lake City, UT; father, Walter (Angela) Wilkes of Ventura, CA and mother, Judy Wilkes of Las Vegas, NV; and one brother Thomas (Steph King) Wilkes of Newbury Park, CA.

He loved his family especially his two daughters, his 'furry' children Sadie, Simba, Goldie and Buddy Jay, his grand dog Jack and grand frogs Pebbles and Bam Bam. In his youth he loved to play all types of sports and excelled in many. His favorite was basketball. He loved watching Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. Lonnie was a kind and generous person, always willing to help someone in need. He was an extraordinary person and many family members and friends have wonderful memories of him. Lonnie will be forever loved and missed.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
