Lorraine Roberts

December 19, 1924 — February 26, 2012

Naomi Lorraine Roberts, our beloved aunt, cousin and friend, passed away February 26, 2012 in Salt Lake City. She was born in Annabella, Utah on Dec.19, 1924, to Floyd and Ivy Camp Roberts. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1942 and received a journalism scholarship to USU. Lorraine served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII. Following her service, she returned to school at the U of U where she graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She was a teacher and administrator in the Granite School District for many years, and even after retirement she continued to tutor children with reading disabilities.

Lorraine loved to fish and hunt, and did so all over the western U.S. She was a freelance writer and wrote articles about her adventures for national hunting and fishing magazines. She also traveled the world, and one of the highlights of her life was her trip to Africa. She had many friends, and loved to entertain.

Lorraine loved her family and did whatever she thought was best to help them. She organized parties for her cousins which kept them all close. She outlived her siblings, but continued to serve their children. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Fount Lambson, her nieces, Teena James, Dianne Raisor, Geri Turley and Kathy Lambson, and nephews Ken Lambson, Dan Vinson, and Mike Roberts, and many grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Scott Roberts and his wife June, LaVee (Kitty) Lambson, and Colleen Sanders, and nephews Butch, Billy and Bobby Vinson.

Services will be held Monday, March 5, at 11am, at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30am. Graveside services will be held in Annabella at 3:30pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful people at Sunrise at Holladay, especially Jenavee and MaCall, and Frankie at Inspiration Hospice, for their loving care of Lorraine.
