Lucile Zenger

November 5, 1918 — January 27, 2014

Lucile Allred Zenger was born Nov. 5, 1918 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She was the 3rd child of 8, born to J Urban and Edna Bingham Allred, and was born during the global influenza epidemic of 1918. She was known as the Flu Baby, but survived to live a long and fruitful life, dieing at the age of 95. She gave a lifetime of service to her family, church, community, and neighborhood. Lucile's father immigrated their family to Logan, Utah in 1937. She graduated from the Utah State University in Logan in 1941, with a degree in Elementary Education. She married her sweetheart, Ray Henry Zenger, from Midway, UT, that same year in the Logan Temple. Ray and Lucile served a mission together in Winnipeg, Canada from 1978-79. Ray preceded her in death in 1999. Lucile is survived by her three children, Lynn(Linda) of Arvada, CO, Carol Shelton(Gary) of Layton, UT, and Paul(Patricia) of Littleton, CO, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and her youngest sister, Eileen Allred Bell. Lucile taught elementary school in Salt Lake City for 10 years. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She served in many leadership positions during the 66 years that she lived in the Crystal Heights 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a great love for genealogy and researching her heritage. Funeral services will be held at 11:30am on Saturday February 1, 2014 at the Crystal Heights 2nd Ward, 1970 E. Stratford Ave.(2500 South) Salt Lake City, where friends may visit with the family before the funeral beginning at 10:00 am, at the same location. Interment will be made in the Midway, Utah cemetery.
