Vida LuJean Peterson Rayl Hardy passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 3, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born December 20, 1928 in Lehi, Utah, the daughter of Rulon Van Ray and June Lynch Peterson. Married Layton L. Rayl on April 7, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. Later divorced. Married Roy L. Hardy on June 10, 1989 in the Jordan River Temple. Roy passed away in 2007. LuJean grew up in Lehi. From a young age she loved piano and singing. LuJean gave the gift of music to all she knew, music was her life. Some of her greatest joys were her family, church, her membership in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (1963-1985) and the Utah Symphony Chorus. She sang vocal solos throughout her life and will be remembered for singing "O Divine Redeemer" and "Gesu Bambino". She retired as a Secretary from the Dept. of Health at the U of U. Served in the Salt Lake T emple and was a member of the East Millcreek 6th Ward. LuJean was a very caring and compassionate mother and will be remembered for her selfless love.
Survived by four children; Kenneth L. Rayl, Sharon R. Wilson (William), John Rayl (Becky), Michael J. Rayl (Julie); four step children, Jody Christensen (Vern),Clay Hardy (Bev), Mitch Hardy (Paula),Jennifer Young (Doug); 25 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sister, Elaine Osborne (Robert); brother, Glade Peterson (Kay); daughter in law, Claudette; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sister in laws, choir group family, and many good friends. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lynett Bingham; son, Randall S. Rayl; first husband Layton.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 6, 2010 1:00pm at the East Millcreek Stake Center, 3103 East Craig Drive (3600 South). Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday morning from 11:30am to 12:40pm prior to services. Interment and dedication of the grave will be at the Lehi City Cemetery at 4:00pm. Special thanks to Canyon Rim Care Center and Bristol Hospice.
