Luman (Bud) Patterson Slagle

Bud passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on August 27th after a lingering illness. Bud was born in Salt Lake on January 4, 1923 to Luman M. Slagle and Chrissy Patterson. He married his sweetheart August 15, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Survived by his wife, Colleen; and 6 children: Sue (Guy) Wilcox, Sherrie (Jerald) Boseman, Shauna (Mike) Coe, Stephanie (Tristan) Cannon, Shirlee (Richard) Carroll, and Michael. He was lovingly remembered as "Grandpa Bud" and gramps by 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Bud was loved by all who knew him. He demonstrated honesty and integrity in all aspects of his life including his family businesses, Salt Lake Desk and Equipment Distributors. Bud was active in the LDS church and served faithfully in many callings. He volunteered at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers, served at the Church History Museum for 15 years and served with his loving wife at the Salt Lake Temple Square. He also volunteered as a school crossing guard. Bud was a WWII Veteran with the 60th Artillery/9th Infantry Division and received the Silver Star. He was honored and recognized for his service by the veterans at the University of Utah in 2007. Bud's greatest joy was his family. Bud enjoyed life, especially U of U Basketball, Football, golfing, trips to Jackson Hole Wyoming, gardening, Costco hot dogs, trips to their cabin and especially spending time with his family. We will love you and miss you forever. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 South 2900 East. Friends may visit with the family Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
