Luther Garold Carner

Obituary for Luther Garold Carner, Age 74. Luke died on February 8, 2026, in Kearns, Utah after an intense, brief battle with prostate cancer. He was born on February 12, 1951, in Riverside, California to Luther James Carner & Mildred Chapman. He married Shirley Melinda Lynes on June 26th, 1973. 

Known throughout his life as Luke or Gary, Luke was an avid amateur radio operator. He loved woodworking and building anything he could. Luke found a career in engineering design and drafting. He found joy in discovering his family history. He liked to reload his own ammo. Luke was always prepared for the what-ifs. He loved hiking, camping, and just being outdoors. He enjoyed cultivating his small backyard vegetable garden. Luke had a dry sense of humor and loved to crack dad jokes.

Luke is survived by his brother Dan Carner (Barbara) of Roosevelt, UT, and his five children: Ben (Brooke) Carner of Murray, Aaron (Marian) Carner of West Valley City, Emily Carner of Salt Lake City, Tim (Brittany) Carner of Rock Hill, SC, and Daniel Carner of Mooresville, NC; eleven grandchildren: Sam (Rachel) Carner, Kenyon (Laney) Kollinger, Shawna Carner, Taylor Kollinger, and Madison Kollinger, Cory Johnson and Isabelle Johnson, Alex Ford, Nicholas Ford, Jaden Ford, and Dani Ford; and two great-grandchildren, Tenzin and Zion Kollinger. He is preceeded in death by his parents and youngest brother Greg Carner. 

The viewing begins at noon on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 6175 Borax Avenue, Kearns, UT 84118. The funeral service starts at 12:30pm. Grave side service begins at 2:00pm. Internment will be at Memorial Redwood at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123.
