Lynn Joseph Wagner passed away on November 22, 2022 in his home in Sandy, UT. He was born September 25, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Florence Taylor Wagner and George Franklin Wagner. He attended West High School where he served as the Student Body Vice President, played football, basketball and was a member of the Usher’s Club, Boy’s Glee Club and Secretary of the Student Council. He graduated June 8, 1950 and on December 8, 1950 began serving in the Northern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After completing his mission, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Conners, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 18, 1952.
Lynn was called up for active duty in the United States Army and served in Incheon, Korea during the Korean War. After returning stateside, he attended the University of Utah where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Lynn began his career in Salt Lake City where he and Carol and their family lived until 1975 when he accepted a transfer to Leawood, KS. Lynn and Carol moved back to Utah in 1996 to be closer to family and later retired. They continued to be active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed holding many callings in the Crescent 8th Ward. Lynn and Carol served as Service Missionaries at the Joseph Smith Building for six years. Lynn is survived by his four children, Nanette Slaughter (Bernie), Dr. Spencer Wagner (Ellen), Carolynn Hunter (Scott), Joni Geurts (Jim), 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his sister Florence “Tillie” Peterson. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Carol, in 2021, his son Jeffrey, brothers Dean, Grant, Ralph, Glen and sister Barbara Joan.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 30th, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84123. Interment to follow at 1130.
