Ma’ata Wolfgramm Fiefia, age 100, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Midvale, Utah. She was born on August 13, 1925.
Ma’ata Wolfgramm married Isilileli Kaumoelotu Fiefia on December 24, 1946.
List of Hobbies and Accomplishments
Ma’ata Fiefia loved to serve the Lord. As soon as she was an adult, she became a single sister missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her calling in 1944 appears to be the first time a Tongan single lady was called as a full-time missionary. She was released on November 10, 1946, and was married six weeks later to Isileli Kaumoelotu Fiefia, a new convert to the church, on December 24, 1946. In less than two months, Ma’ata, along with her husband Isileli was called on February 19, 1947, to go on a mission. About two weeks later, they were in Vava’u, Tonga, serving as a couple missionary. They were released on August 28, 1950, and arrived back home on September 1, 1947. However, to their pleasant surprise and manifestation of faith, Ma’ata’s husband Isileli was called two days later, September 3, 1950, to begin Monday, the very next day, as full time labor missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thus, for the first seven and a half years of her adult life, Ma’ata served two full-time proselyting missions for five and a half years and two years raising a baby and two toddlers while her husband was serving a two-year full-time labor mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ma’ata’s family traveled from Tonga to New Zealand in 1960 to be sealed for time and all eternity in the New Zealand Temple. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1971. Upon retirement, Ma’ata and Isileli Fiefia served five more full-time missions to Tonga and New Zealand. Isileli passed away in December 2022 at 99 years of age.
Pre-deceased by parents, Salesi Wolfgramm and Salome Fo’ou Afu Wolfgramm, and 12 siblings.
