Margie Leyba Perry

Margie Leyba Perry, born on July 22, 1937, in the charming town of Dinkyville, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever warm the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Margie was the beloved daughter of Frank and Caroline Leyba, both of whom predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her dear daughter, Jamie Perry Bourque. Margie's passing is felt deeply by her devoted husband of 69 years, Jimmy Perry. Together, they built a warm loving home and deep family legacy. Their marriage, which began on May 24, 1958, was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Margie is survived by her loving children: Dino, Roselynn, James (Carrie), Micheal, Matthew, Tricia (Jim), Julie, and Jodi. She was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Margie was a beacon of love and stability, a place where all her family members felt safe and at home. Her career spanned 30 years with the Jordan School District, where she dedicated herself to teaching high school students English in the ESL program. Margie had a passion for mentoring the youth, which she also expressed through her roles as a Boy Scout leader, youth group leader, and CCD teacher at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Even in her later years, she continued to serve her community by volunteering at the local food pantry.

Margie was known for her quick wit and mischievous humor, a gift she inherited from her father. Her strength and resilience were hallmarks of her character, making her a devoted and loving mother who could always find a solution to any problem. She was the kind of grandmother who made everyone feel they belonged, and she was renowned for her fun-loving nature. Her culinary skills, particularly her famous chili verde and warm tortillas with chili piqué, were a treasured highlight of family gatherings.

A service to honor and celebrate Margie's life will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, on August 18, 2026. A rosary will begin at 10:30 am with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be at 12:30 pm at West Jordan Cemetery, located at 1251 W 7800 S. A light luncheon will be held at the hall of St. Joseph the Worker church where all are welcome to come visit. In the words of her family,

"Til the very end mom was still thinking about how to care for her children and grandchildren. One of her final statements was, 'I’ve had a good life.'" Margie’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
