Marie Van Huizen 1905 ~ 2009

Margaretha Maria Eillebrecht Van Huizen passed away peacefully January 2, 2009. She was born May 8, 1905 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands to Catharina Petronella Janssen and Bernardus Joannes Eillebrecht. She married Marius W. Van Huizen in Rotterdam and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1955. Marie is survived by her daughters, Betty Eillebrecht, Willy Van Huizen, Elly Norton, and Catharine (Mike) Crocker; sons, Bart (Barbara) Van Huizen, and Ed (Barbara) Van Huizen; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 9 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Marius Van Huizen Jr.; daughter, Elly Van Huizen; grandson, Marty Van Huizen; son-in-law, Mack Norton; parents; and 10 siblings. In her early years she worked as a bookkeeper. After coming to America she worked at Mountain View Nursing Home for over 10 years. She was a very special and kind person. Everyone loved her, especially our animals and little children. She was always very upbeat and optimistic. We would like to thank Gayle Barkle for doing her hair for so many years, and when Margaretha could not go out she would come to the house and do it. We would like to thank Intermountain Healthcare for their excellent service, the many nurses and CNA's who took such good care of her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 S 2900 E. Friends and family may visit Tuesday evening at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S 2300 E, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
