Marietta Vanden Akker Buma

Marietta Vanden Akker Buma passed away peacefully November 30, 2011 with her family by her side. She was born June 9, 1916 in Taylorsville, Utah to Leonard Vanden Akker and Marie Unck Vanden Akker.

Marietta spent her early years on the family dairy farm and graduated from Granite High School. She and her husband, LeGrand, moved to Richland, Washington during World War II as part of the Manhattan Project. Mom and Dad served a mission together at the Los Angeles Temple Visitors Center and later served as workers in the Jordan River Temple. Marietta was a wonderful loving mother.

Marietta is survived by her eight children, 34 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeGrand Paul Buma.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Olympus 6th Ward, 3070 East Nila Way (4140 South), where friends and family may visit from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.
