Marilane Steinley Kolovos

November 22, 1948 — June 5, 2026

Murray

Died on June 5th, 2026 at her home in Murray Utah of natural causes. She was born November 22nd 1948, in Colorado Springs, CO to John and Philliss Steinley. John was in the army and stationed at Fort Carson, CO. John was soon transferred to Germany, where Marilane as a toddler learned to speak German better than English.

She Married Robert Earl Davis, in 1966, later divorced. They had one son, Troy Davis. She then married George Kolovos, in September of 1980.

Marilane was very serious when it came to work and was a consummate professional, she was a waitress, furniture finisher, farmer and nurse. Nursing was her main career, and she worked at various nursing homes in Salt Lake county. Troy would ride his bike to the nursing home as boy and have lunch with his mom. He remembers meeting many patients and their families and how many of them told him she was there favorite nurse. Troy was proud of that. However farming was the career that she enjoyed the most, as she and George did it together.

She also had a teasing and silly side to her, she liked to tease and be teased, play a practical joke, and tell a dirty joke or two. She could be quite a character, and was fun to be around.

When she and George married she finally got a home, which made her very happy. She enjoyed making the yard pretty and had so many flower pots. She also loved to cook in her kitchen and made delicious meals. Her fried chicken, was exceptional, as was her red velvet cake. She also loved animals, birds, especially hummingbirds, flowers and sugar sun tomatoes.

When she made a friend it was a friendship that lasted for decades. Her friend Dana she has known since Junior High. She gave her friend Lauri a ride home one night after work, at that point they were just co-workers. However that night happened to be November 22nd, which was coincidentally both of their birthdays. Sharing a birthday and much more made them friends for over 50 years.

She is survived by: Her son Troy Davis, his wife Jennifer, Grandchildren Jeremy and Coleman Davis and Coleman's wife Tiandra. Also survived by her siblings Peg Schmidt, Becky Smart, and Tommy Steinley, and her God Daughter Heather. And her forever friends Kathy, Dana, Shauna, Chris, Lauri, and Christie.

She is preceded in death by her husband George Kolovos, her Parents John and Philliss Steinley, and several aunts and uncles.
