Born on July 2, 1934, to Arthur and Alvilda Sorensen in Redmond, Utah, she was the 7th of nine children. They all slept three to a bed - her, Joyce, and Nellie. Married on August 23, 1954, to James Thomas Giles in Elko, Nevada, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law (Dave), and all of her siblings except her younger brother Terry in Grand Junction, CO. She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Ken (Kris); son, Dennie (Becky); daughter, Kathy (Russ); son, Lee (Carla); and daughter, Teresa (Steve). She has 14 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, plus 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
She retired as a school lunch manager after 19 years. She was an excellent seamstress, crafter, and painter. She loved playing games anytime, anywhere. She was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She served with her husband in the Johannesburg, South Africa mission, spending most of their time in the country of Botswana. She loved being around family and looked forward to big family get-togethers, which were very important to her. The family would like to thank Char and those with hospice who helped to make things easier in her final days.
