Marlene Solum Helland Age 92 died 13 September 2025 in Sandy, Utah. She was born on 30 June, 1933, in Seattle, Washington to Orin Benjamin Solum and Florence Agness Lamphere Solum. She married her love Henry C. Helland on 3 January 1972.
Marlene worked for the Utah State Department of Highways where she met her future husband Henry. She served in the capacity as supervisor of the Central Files Division. This was a very important assignment since the central files included thousands of important letters and documents that required the utmost skill and ability to properly insure its function,
Marlene loved her involvement with the Utah Literacy Program and had many beautiful stories that she shared. She enjoyed volunteering at the Utah food bank, church and St. Marks Hospital. In past years she bowled in several leagues, and played cards with a group of friends for many years. Marlene was very proud of her Solum-Lamphere heritage. When asked how many puzzles she put together, she would say, I don't know, but a lot of them.
She is survived by Step daughter Jeanice Holtzer (Bob), Darrel Solum (Connie) deceased, Dallas Solum (Marsha) deceased, Sherre Crawford (Gary W.) deceased, Glen Williams (Kathy), Mark Solum and Tammy F.
