Martin John Burton and Anarene Randall Burton were blessed with 7 children. They are: Joani (Greg) Shaw, Sharleen (Norman) Breese, Diane (Tony) Mallory, Cherie (Dave) Musacchia, Marsha (Larry) Hill, Kevin John (Tiffani) Burton, Monica (Aaron) McCombs.

They are blessed with 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with two more arriving soon.

Martin grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended and graduated from West High in 1956.

Martin learned from his father at a young age how to paint houses.  This became his occupation for a lifetime.  He was a hard worker, and provided for his family through his trade.  Martin also learned to be a wallpaper hanger and was a skilled carpenter.  He worked for many years as an independent contractor painting houses and hanging wallpaper.  He was also employed by Hercules and LDS Hospital.

Martin was a man of many names.  They include the nickname of Jack, Jackie (by his parents and siblings), dad, father and grandfather.

Martin was a man of faith.  He is a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He served a church mission on the island of Samoa for 2 ½ years.  He and Anarene raised their family in the faith.

Martin is a man of devotion.  He was dedicated to his God, family, friends and craft.

Martin had many hobbies. Hiking and driving the canyons brought him happiness.  Gardening was a joy of his.  He grew vegetables and cultivated the fruit trees in his garden from which he fed his family and his soul.

Photography was a life long passion of his.  He took pictures of the things he loved, namely his family and the outdoors.

As a child, he found a harmonica. He taught himself to play, and would play for his family, especially on picnics and campouts. Country western music was his favorite and he would sometimes sing along to the songs he would play on his vinyl record player.  He loved it when music was in the house.

Martin found comfort through music upon the death of Anarene.  After her passing, Martin took music lessons, read books, joined a band, and taught classes to others, all of which increased his harmonica skills.  Sharing his talents brought him great happiness.

Kindness, compassion, hard work, faith, honesty are all virtues he believed in, taught to his children and lived.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to thank all those who have served him recently.  There has been a wonderful and large outpouring of love from family, friends, community and church members.
