Martin (Marty) Clifford Spradlin

July 1, 1959 — August 17, 2023

I am heartbroken to announce the death of my husband Martin Clifford Spradlin. He peacefully passed away on August 17, 2023, after a short but courageous battle with not one but two wicked and terminal diseases; Lung Cancer and Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Marty loved music; he had the talent of being able to hear a song and then play it back flawlessly on one of his many guitars. He had a very eclectic record collection and was a walking music Rolodex. Another talent of his was his love of computers and he could fix any hardware and software issues (There will be a lot of people who will miss this talent).
Marty had a unique heritage. Mexican on his father’s side and Italian on his mother’s side. Not only did this combination create the most handsome son of Eddie and Nina (Drietzler) Spradlin but, made for some delicious spicy Italian food. Marty was a fantastic cook and knew the way to my heart was good food. So yes, he had my whole heart. I will truly miss his cooking. One of his favorite things to do was to make Pizzelles (Italian cookies) for family and friends at Christmas time. His grandma Drietzler passed down her recipe secrets of perfect cookies and how to use the pizzelle press.  He started the process a couple of weeks before Christmas and didn’t stop until his back couldn’t take standing and pressing cookies in the pizzelle machine. He made approximately 600 cookies each year. His grandma Spradlin shared her talent of making chili. She always had homemade tortillas and a pot of chili waiting for anyone to grab a bowl. Marty made the best chili red or green, it didn’t matter it was spicy but delicious.
Marty had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He passed this trait on to his son Tyler James Spradlin. Alone they were funny but together they were a riot. Tyler was one of Marty’s greatest accomplishments and he was always so proud of him. He was especially grateful for the person he chose to marry, Tashia Lou Corbitt Spradlin, who is a great joy to our family. Together, TnT (as we affectionately call them) brought into this world two more wonderful blessings. Ledger William Spradlin (6) and Lienna Marie Spradlin (2). They loved their grandpa and he loved them. It was fun to watch his eyes light up whenever they would come to visit. He was very saddened by the fact he will not be here to watch them grow. One of the biggest concerns he had was that his grandchildren would not remember him. Marty, we will not let that happen!
A memorial service will be held for Marty on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Redwood Mortuary at 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, 84123 followed by a graveside at 11:00 a.m.
To my husband, this is not how we pictured our lives to go, my love. After you survived two major heart issues, we thought we were on our way to a long and enjoyable life filled with family, friends, and vacations. You will always be on my mind and in my heart and our experiences will be remembered and shared with the ones we love.
